Refreshingly original.
There's magic in the air
and a message in the fun.’ We all love trees'' is the
theme song-and the boo-able villain the wicked man with
the chainsaw. How’s that for originality? And how
refreshing to see genuine children's entertainment.
The Magic Tree is a little gem.
Amid all the fun, writer director Danny Zapparelli
dares to put across a strong green message.
The magic tree is the only one we see in a forest that
is being destroyed to make room for a building
development.
The hero, Roxy Foxy and the Crimson Fairy, contrive to
save it, with the help of the wizard of course.
There are cuddly and amusing glove puppet animals-snail,
crow, French squirrel, owl and rocking Roxy Foxy-who pop
out of holes in the tree, a villain of a
chainsaw-wielding woodchopper and lots of audience
participation.
Allie is a delightful Eyebright and Emanuel Brierley and
Arif Javid work wonders as the characters.
And the kids, so close to the action in this space, just
lapped it up. |
