Sunshine Puppets in Education
Sunshine Puppets produce environmental puppet shows and educational
workshops for primary schools. The puppet shows and associated workshops
use creative exploration to help children discover and learn through
task-based activities.
Sunny Sam meets Ork from Outer Space
30 minutes
Two actors perform the show in a colourful puppet booth, with their
three pantomime like puppets and props. The puppets deliver their
message with the help of 5 songs and music. Ork is flying through space with her Clean Planets Green Team
cleaning up the galaxy; she arrives on earth with the mission of meeting
Sunny Sam and stopping the evil ways of Horrible Huxter.
The show deals with the issues of: -
Litter and how it ruins the environment
The 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) and how easy it is to do
Creating a better environment
After the Show
Besides the show providing a stimulating educational treat for the
children, our performers hold a question and answer session after every
show about the issues raised.
Educational Packs for Key Stages 1 and 2
With every show we include a free easy to use environmental educational
pack.
They include teachers' notes, lesson plans, Sunshine Puppet quiz,
wordsearch puzzle, information sheets and extension activities.
Puppet Making Workshops
The show can be followed by a workshop with the children making puppets
from recycled materials and writing and performing their own show.
The children work in small groups on a variety of situations dealing
with issues raised in the show.
At the end of the day there is a short performance to the rest of the
school and parents.

Sunny Sam the Sunshine Kid
30 minutes
Sunny Sam and Horrible Huxter are the two characters in
the show. Sunny Sam is a happy chap, who sings as he goes about
his business, helping to save the planet!
Horrible Huxter on the other hand, spends his time wasting as
much of the world's
resources as possible. A chance encounter allows Sunny Sam to
show Horrible
Huxter how to save energy.

To Market
30 minutes
'To Market' is a fast and funny puppet show, teaching children ways
in which we
can eat healthily. Horrible Huxter and Sunny Sam go to the market to
sell different
foods: Horrible Huxter buys canned and heavily packaged goods imported
from far
away, Sunny Sam sells fresh, locally grown crops.
'To Market' illustrates the importance of fresh foods for a healthy diet
and the vital
role local farms play in food production and local economies.
